Health & Safety Policy Statement

Braybrook Limited as a leading Building and Railway Contractor is committed to continuous improvement, and investment, to ensure maintaining high standards of system management and cooperation with all regulatory authorities, thus ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally acceptable code of working practices for our activities.

Our aim is to reduce and/or minimise the risk impacted by our business activities on our employees. The organisation also recognises its responsibilities and fully accepts, its statutory moral responsibilities to provide the highest standard of health and safety protection for its staff and subcontractors, plus any others who may be affected by our undertakings. The Company will ensure that they communicate and actively encourage participation of all staff when implementing the Health and Safety Management system and introducing safe system of works & risk assessments.
The Company is committed to safety in so far as responsibly practicable in providing sufficient resources for the management of health and safety and setting and monitoring objectives below.

OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this policy is to give the overall objectives of the organisation as related to Health, Safety & Welfare of our employees, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, our environment, and the international standards to which we subscribe.

To establish and maintain an Occupational Health and Safety Management System which satisfies the requirements of ISO 45001:2018, all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, industry best practice and any other Client specific requirements.

This Policy is subject to annual review or following significant change to legislation or our business practices, and is available to any interested party and provides the framework for establishing Health and Safety Targets and Objectives.

This policy is a living document and is a formal statement of intention endorsed by the Senior Management Team and the Rail Director.

POLICY STATEMENT OF INTENT

As a minimum the company seeks to comply with all current and future relevant health and safety legislation and other requirement, to which we subscribe, and too continually monitor, review and improve our performance.

We shall ensure that all our employees and others who come under our control have the requirements of our standards and procedures communicated to them and also that we will ensure these requirements are understood. These requirements will be periodically reviewed.

We will review our Health & Safety performance through appropriate measurement & analysis to support our continual improvement of the Integrated Business Management System (BMS) and our associated business performance.

We will provide adequate resource, time, people and the finance to ensure the sustainability of the BMS.

We will promote a safe working environment and provide resources for Behavioural Based Safety regimes to help promote a
safety culture.

We will continue to strive to prevent injury and ill health to employees and others who are subject to our activities. Detailed analysis will ensure we evaluate root cause of problems and prevent reoccurrence.

To provide our employees with the necessary supervision, instruction, training and information needed to ensure that quality and safe working practices are adhered to, and to develop safety awareness amongst our employees.

Form partnerships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure excellent overall performance giving client satisfaction. Provide the necessary Personal Protective Equipment and training for the tasks to be performed.
To provide and maintain plant and equipment and operational controls that prevent injury and ill health.

To operate a ‘balanced blame’ culture whereby employees are openly encouraged to report hazards, including near misses, without fear of reprisal to ensure the root causes of accidents are identified thus enabling measures to be put in place to eliminate recurrence.

To ensure sufficient financial and physical resources are available to meet the objectives of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, as well as all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Management, employees and subcontractors are required to observe and comply with current Health & Safety Legislation, London Underground, DLR and Network Rail Standard Requirements

Employees are encouraged to report any accident, incidents or safety concerns to their direct line manager who will ensure the matter is fully investigated

RESPONSIBILITY

The Managing Director has the overall responsibility for the Health and Safety Policy and Occupational Health and Safety Management System including formulation, development, implementation and encouraging commitment by personnel at all levels of the Company.

The Management Representatives nominated in the Integrated Management System Manual are responsible for the co- ordination, implementation and monitoring of the policy throughout the organisation.

All employees, contractors and visitors are responsible for policy implementation by cooperating, participating and contributing to its success through their actions and suggestions.

COMMUNICATION

This Health and Safety Policy is communicated to all employees, contractors and visitors. A copy is displayed on employee notice boards at the Head Office, held in the Site / Vehicle folders on transient work sites and published on the internal company shared drive. All employees are encouraged to read it and communicate any queries to a Director.

Copies are made available to interested parties on request and a copy is published on the company website.

This policy shall be reviewed annually.
